who are we at our core

I'd invite you to know me it's the impossible ask though I know what I'm not should I make any list then I feel I fail at my core I'm a galaxy things swirl shoot out of sight light is emitted I don't know if the source went out but it still shines there's too much to know I'm not me, I'm all the befores there's a touch of all the somewheres the spin offs of the parallel you hear it all on the static or in the quiet the knowledge seeps from somewhere there's no above and below it's sideways then there's stillness, the now I can't deny I'm here looking out, trying to calculate without the right kit who am I at my core? it's a question with one word answers: good flawed different if you wrap those elements together there's something that needs confidence to thrive subdued, resting like an event that didn't happen what it all doesn't need is a label because it and you and me is beyond your comprehension and mine

ah, the almost rhetorical question we all ponder is 'who we are at the core. I agree, we don't need labels...labels confine but don't define. Brilliant write...have a wonderful evening, Sara

Thank you Sara - these are exciting times for self expression in some ways (if the world was a bit more settled in the background) x

So true. We are chameleons of life, each moment is different. Hopefully, I'm accepted as I am. Thank you for your poetry.

I think society is moving forward to recognise individualism so much more - it'll be the clones who will need to buck their ideas up in future :)

Thought provoking poem DD, exploring one of the imponderable questions of what lies at the core of who we are. The closer one gets, the more the mind is confused....in the end, as your poem concludes, labels are useless.

Contest driven topic but I've pondered the same many times in poetry. I do get concerned I'll give the wrong impression when I delve into the metaphysical. I can't imagine I'll ever figure it out nor have a mind that doesn't ponder. I appreciate your comment and your friendship x
