Whispers In the Distance
I can almost hear you
calling my name in muffled gasps
as the zephyr of spring breathes
in a somber whisper
through these sprouting trees
as I sit beneath this onyx sky
the bowed moon slips above
this clouded veil of night
that hides the stars from view
yet i close my eyes momentarily
making wishes as I watch them
pirouetting in and out
glistening like fireflies
amongst swaying fields
i remember us dancing
with the same graceful moves
as if we'd never part ways
until darkness came
and left me with the same emptiness
as this june sky swirling above me...
