Which Garden Flower Am I

A garden plant I am, for sure. My showy flower clusters are so pure! I creep along hills or a rock so pretty. I spread quickly delighting kitty. Low to the ground, I show off my colors. My cousins can grow to five foot, but not my brothers. We creep along your garden gate with aim. We end in an X, do you know our name? Phlox

Caren, phlox ends with an X, but it doesn't match your description in the poem. Phlox are tall not ground crawlers. BTW there are several flowers that end in X. Also, please understand that my humor is not related to my personal life, it's all made up; otherwise I would have been divorced (murdered, probably) long ago. Just thought you'd like to know. / M

You might not have the creeping ground cover phlox in the east, but we have them in Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas. Come see them sometime.
