What ever happened to May Day Was it always borne of fire? Ritualistic backstay The opposite of a pyre Ensuring fertility of the land Safety of the livestock Fire, dancing hand in hand All together en bloc Don't fear Beltane The new fire is lit Modern meets the arcane To the heaven and earth we recommit Which fire is eternal Poetry Contest 7th March 2023 Sponsored by: Joe Maverick

Happy to know of this May Day celebration making fire for the fertility of the land and safeguarding the livestock. So this fire is meant to propitiate the gods for a new beginning . The knowledge of Beltane is a new knowledge for me. We learn so much from others. Thanks Dilly. All the best in the contest.

I was a bit worried about this concept so didn't want to participate in the contest initially, but a light Google revealed it is probably fine! Phew!
