Yes, Free Verse makes a form of rune, divine And how I love to weave these words of mine With strands and tapestries of phrases, rife The colors, thoughts and joys, (or not), of life With no constraints to meter or like sound Bent only on the substance, thus profound And yet ... for me there's NOTHING more sublime Than rhythmic stanza built ... with perfect rhyme!

Amen! Well-said, Nette ... they all have their place and time, and each niche is a quiet corner for us to work in! I've only written poems for two years, but this wonderful Art of Word has changed my life, and given me a voice and a healing balm for my soul that I never expected ...

Oh, John - please do not think this was in response to the contest - not remotely! I ADORE Free Verse and write more of that form than anything. But I was discussing with a family member this morning how I felt Rhyme was just a wee bit more rewarding, (when it turns out right, I think because of the constraints involved), and that spurred this write. Free Verse is still my "thang"! ;-) Thanks and blessings, my friend!
