Where Folk Still Have a Smile Upon Their Face

What am I missing since lockdown began way back in March I was happy and free to come and to go any where any day taken for granted Oh dear ~ silly me… Social isolating has kept me inside a place to feel safe a place for to hide But now going out I look all about in case someone else may walk far too close Then I remember not too long ago a smile a good morning so lovely to hear on a sweet sunny morn how I yearn how I pray on this bright sunny day for their welcome return For I hope paranoia will never kick in it would be such a shame it would be such a sin not to walk by the sea with her ebb and her flow a place I adore I could ask for no more… She gives me such peace and tranquillity She truly makes my soul soar She takes me to another place ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ where folk still have a smile upon their face ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Written 31st May 2020 Contest Strand no 780 Sponsor Brian Strand 2nd Place

Sadly the world we know has gone forever, I believe our government has mishandled it from the start, they should have closed everything down when they knew full well what was coming, but economy before lives. Hope you're keeping well Ann, you're lucky living by the sea. Have those baby seagulls flown the nest yet. Tom

I think you are right about that Tom, things will never be quite the same again... Yes to be beside the sea is wonderful and I never ever want to leave! In fact whenever I 'go inland' I get withdrawal symptoms, haha... Baby seagulls ~ oh dear now that's another story and I will soupmail update. Take care my friend, with kindest thoughts Ann xx

A simple smile has such power - on our faces and on the face of the sea and the seashore. Like a smile the sea can comfort, heal and transport us into a better place or frame of mind. I like your metaphor of the sea for a smile. Perhaps we ought to be a riot of smiles like an avalanche of love! Take care dear friend.

Hi Ann, a very well penned piece on your experience of Covid 19, all of it so very true. I've just penned one on similar subject, "The effects of Covid 19" check it out please, see what you think. Hope all is well with you, how do you feel about cutting back on the restrictions? I feel it's dangerous and maybe too quick. Take care, Blessings always ,Gordon

Hi Gordon, I will take a look at your poem and I am sure it will be great. Yes, like you I am a little concerned and seem to have lost my confidence with regards to being out at busier times, but hopefully people will be sensible and maybe this is the light at the end of the tunnel... take good care Gordon. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

we are getting back to normality in many ways here Ann but its happening far too quickly for my liking. got to say on our daily walks we still smile and stop and chat to people we meet - socially distancing rules applying! Not visiting mum is the hardest thing but apart from that we are getting on with life - thank goodness the weather has been fine, have had some wonderful coastal walks. stay safe... the end is in sight my friend:-) hugs Jan xx

yes Jan, the weather has been glorious and it makes such a difference to wake up to a stunning sunrise, as this is often when I venture out and walk along the promenade before too many others ~ so beautiful it sets me up for the day. I am glad you too are enjoying the coastal walks and I hope it will not be too long before you can visit Mum. Take care my friend. With kindest thoughts Ann xx
