Where Did I Go

I fear within it all I closed up shop Located myself and switched me off Unconcerned by plights of others Mind yourself and all that bothers My prior self stands me in good stead No one noticed part of me dead Unbusy brain I'm not the same Numbed by self blame No energy I claim Maybe I'll reframe Is it a shame? People still glad I came I have good nature fame Compassion is my aim Needed to quell and tame Reinvent and rename I'm lost in the game No one noticed part of me dead My prior self stands me in good stead Mind yourself and all that bothers Unconcerned by plights of others Located myself and switched me off I fear within it all I closed up shop

Thank you Paula, I know what's bothering me, so took the plunge and addressed it after writing this as I'd had several days of burden weighing me down, hopefully it'll lift now. Thank you for your kind words

Even though you feel a part of you has died you have never stopped seeking to understand and practice compassion - a concept you have placed almost in the middle of your poem so it can be highlighted against your struggle. Truly a battle between ego and becoming. Enjoyed DD.
