This is truly profound, there is nothing better than the sound of a phone ringing on a lonely day. In many cases a lonely 10 months

When Jo Stafford sang, "Oh how welcome thy voice" ("Whispering Hope" 1949) many Americans did not have telephones, but in 2020, a copied Email will do ..... Well done, Jan! Aloha! Rico

An excellent Double Nonet Jan, it will be a lonely Christmas this year for those who are in a distance tier. But as you say there’s always a phone call to take the misery away. Best wishes... Belle xx

Hi Jan, Christmas isn't going to be the same this year. Many won't be able to see the family and friends. Covid has brought much sadness. Good expressing folk not being able to see loved ones in these difficult times. Best wishes in the contest- Alexis

It will be so difficult for many not being able to see their loved ones, our elderly friends here are suffering so badly not being able to see the grandchildren and have basically cancelled Christmas as it wont be the same as being with them:-( hugs jan xx

Crass as it may sound Jan but maybe you and your family are better off without her then. Sadly

I will never have any contact Christopher she has burnt her bridges, mum has taken down all pictures of her and my dad and she smashed and ripped up my sisters baby photo about 5 years ago - said she will never get another penny from her - she's had everything i've worked for handed on a plate to her, such is life, sadly other people I know can relate to how I've been treated so so differently to her, seems its quite a common story, mum no longer mentions her now which makes life easier. hugs jan x

Happy Day's then Jan you have all you really need then. Saddest of all is you even feel the need to mention your sister at all. Funny isn't it how they have you by the proverbial ball's and have you still thinking about them even though they shouldn't be given a second thought. And heaven forbid she does get in touch would you not be the first to welcome her with open arm's

Hi Christopher, I am fine the poem isnt about me, I was thinking of friends here who are desperately missing their loved ones - iI am so lucky I have my son hubby and mum here - my sister has had no contact with us in over 5 years but we are in touch with other members of the family:-) hugs jan xx

It will be that way for a lot of families this Christmas Jan, thankfully we have ways to talk to loved ones but its not the same. Ive got a feeling things may get stricter as they've discovered a new variant, as you've said, when will it end. IOM is certainly taking it seriously, just saw some idiot on a jetski was jailed for visiting his girlfriend in Douglas, he was from Scotland. Tom

It's morons like that who will bring and spread the virus to the community, seems they went to two nightclubs during his 'stay' well looks like he will be locked up for Christmas and enjoy 'the jurby hilton' for a couple of weeks, lets hope they deport him:-) hugs jan xx
