When the Sun Bids Goodbye

Sometimes when the sun
Hovering on the horizon in the eventide
On a cold, windy winter day
Is bidding goodbye at the close of day
I watch it almost wistfully
Wishing it would linger much longer
Oh, the beautifully bright glow
And the glory of it, I truly treasure
What could be more magnificent?
A molecule of melancholy hangs high
In the frigid air as I watch the setting sun
Slowly and steadily sink into the sea
I watch it drowning, and I wish it would
Grow arms and safely swim out to shore, to me
Is it so wrong to wish it stays through a cold night
To bless me with a wealth of warmth?
I know with crystal-clear certainty, it will
Generously grace me with its presence
At tomorrow's sunrise
I morosely miss it, still
