When the Flame Goes Out

With eyes closed I still saw in the dark
My heart took my hand to serve as guide
It's the light from within that was my spark
when my outward flame flickered and died.
Nothing and no one will control me again
I've traversed that road too many times.
Not even those who became a false friend
those ones I see as though they are mimes.
Some try to extinguish the flame of my candle
but that will not make their flames glow bright
Bad intentions of others are not hard to handle
I know where I am headed without candlelight.
With eyes open wide, but closed to intimidation
I use the blustering of others for my inspiration.
