When I Am Old and Gray

When I am old and very gray, I shall retire to a cozy little cottage Near a pleasant seaside village Where neither pesky mosquitoes roam Nor deer feed in my flower beds. I shall call this lovely place my home Where no strangers ever dare pillage I shall live out the years of my dotage In this fantasy place far, far away When I am old and very gray. written July 20, 2021 submitted to "Finding Your Muse" poetry contest sponsored by Regina McIntosh FIRST PLACE WINNER Brian Strand Poetry Contest July 23, 2021

It's a pipedream. I have a cozy little cottage here in Kentucky, just not by the seashore, which I love.

A beautiful place of aging gracefully Milt. All of us need a tranquil home of serene peace and joy. This is lovely. Congratulations on your win. I hope your cottage has a porch where you can enjoy the sunrises and sunsets. We have a pergola with a bench on our front porch. Love to sit there in the evening - NO mosquitoes! :)

Sounds soooo delightful, Sam. I have a small front stoop where I often sit and think about things that need to be thought about.

Thanks, Nancy, so much for your comments. I wish I had a creek with ducks. I shall add that to my list of "musts" for my retirement home!
