When I Am Old

When I am old, my poor face will start to droop. Forgetful at times, I might go loopity-loop! When I am old, different parts of me will ache. Sometimes I’ll wonder how much more I can take. When I am old, new glasses I will need to magnify all the small words I read. When I am old I’ll sometimes want to weep because at night I cannot stay asleep. When I am old, I’ll be learning the names for conditions I’d never even heard of before! When I am old, oh how much faster time will go, yet my moves in Zumba will get a little slow! Not all of these things as a child had I been told could happen, and yet they have! Already I am old! Aug. 4, 2018 for the "For Your Poetry Journal" Poetry Contest of Dear Heart a.k.a. Broken Wings

I don't have any mirrors at home...I feel the same as always...sometimes I don't see too clearly, but I don't think I'm missing anything...Nice one Andrea...All the best

This is a tongue-in-cheek approach to the inevitability that we will all suffer the pangs of growing old, or at least the lucky ones will. Emile.
