When Did You Do It Last
When did you last
hold the hands of a child
looking up to you saying nothing,
the eyes brimming with tears speak.
When did you last
give some grains to the bird
pacing your backyard searching food,
the collapsed wings it can’t open shrink.
When did you last
sprinkle some water on the sapling
fighting the sun in your garden drying fast,
the drooping leaves refusing to fly away stick.
When did you last
see the golden sun rise
spreading colors on the horizon lighting up,
the smoky sky inviting for you a new day waits.
When did you last
sit under the full-moon sky
wearing a crown of stars shining high,
blue night drenching you in mystic ecstasy ornate.
When did you last
look deep within your life
wasted in vain pursuits enticing you long,
the resting place the weary soul fails to locate.
