What's the Buzz

If I were a fly, I would take my place
In the halls of Congress where haste makes waste
I’d buzz the House Speaker’s ear
     Because it has become clear
The voice of the public has been misplaced

Perhaps a good buzz would open their ears
Before they explore new spending frontiers
     Pork barrel projects still grow
     Let’s Make a Deal’s a game show
This game must end now as we’re in arrears

I’d surely make a nuisance of myself
I make a heck of a pesky black elf
Sit on cups before they drink
Lay eggs on collars of mink
Then wreak havoc with Obama himself

Hey Carolyn, I love limericks and you did so well here. I keep trying to write them, but without much success. I should stick to other types of poetry and usually do. Elton

So true, if we don't make a nuisance of ourselves they will never listen. A neat idea for the contest. Agape, Moses

Hi Caroly, enjoyed the read of your Limericks this sunny but cold Sunday afternoon! Haven't been much on Soup lately but posted some more poems though. Here in Germany we would need many flies to do that job, hahaha!!! Wish you best of luck in Michael's contest and thank you for all your kind comments!...Love, Gert

The title of this entry reminded me of the musical "Jesus Christ Superstar". This is a nice trio of limericks that convey a very humorous story.

Oh, the politics of the day...If I were a fly in the halls of Congress, I'd like to listen to everyone. Then, I'd lend my ear to Obama himself! (Maybe he would think and act a little differently...who knows.)

well, except for the very last line, i loved this one. hahaha. I was gonna include Congress in MY set of fly limericks, but I was only coming up with boring lines so I left mine about Hollywood and the common man. YOu did very nicely with the congress theme. Thanks for the explanation of that one poem. LUv, Andrea
