What's Love Got To Do With It
I started out life as Anna Mae Bullock, on November 26, 1939 in Tennessee. My sisters Evelyn~Ruby and I were separated by World War ll, my paternal grandparents home became mine. After the war, it was great to be reunited as a family. As young girl, I sang in the church choir. Growing up was not easy, our parents fighting did not help. As a teenager I was a domestic worker, also a cheerleader and basketball player. After high school, I worked as a nurse's aide.
My life was about to change, my music career was about to start. I was being introduced as Tina Turner, with the single "A Fool in Love." Music became all consuming, records~tours and many awards. The years with Ike were rough, I had to file for a divorce. What was a solo career going to look like, my appearing on TV shows took off. As I resumed touring, I re-emerged sexier in image and costumes. My song "What's Love Got to Do with It," became a number one hit. My comeback was here, I won three Grammys. Ike & I were inducted, into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Then came a semi-autobiographical film, "What's Love Got to Do with It." My song "GoldenEye" was written by Bono, for the James Bond film GoldenEye. A girl from Tennessee was given the name, "The Queen of Rock and Roll." Life has not always been easy, with many illnesses. Now my home is in Switzerland, my days are ending. On May 24, 2023 at the age of 83, I left this world for another home.
