What They Did To You

What have they done to You, Man on the cross Seeing You here means we’ve suffered great loss But I cannot climb up and set You free What they did to You has been done to me They once applauded wisdom of Your words It seemed You were followed by many herds Where are those who once bowed on bended knee What they did to You has been done to me My tears flow knowing there’s naught I can do Powerless I stand, keeping faith in You Hoping that Your Father will hear my plea What they did to You has been done to me

Congratulations my friend - I am SO glad to see you back here posting poems and entering contests. You have been sorely missed. I got a little misty-eyed the first time I read this. I especially liked the last verse and also how you made sure to capitalize references to Jesus and God...Much love to you - Tim

Dear lady - I was SO touched by this that I got a little misty-eyed...My simple mind cannot fathom or comprehend the fact that he suffered and died for MY sins, yours and all the souls that ever existed!!! I still struggle with that but my faith is renewed when I read the Book of Job: "For I know that my redeemer liveth"...Oh yes indeed! Congratulations - Tim

Such an emotive write, Carolyn. Congrats on the win in our contest. There is a classic feel to this kyrielle. I hope you are taking the time for you, to deal with the loss of your friend... I was thinking, in a few weeks, you could do something SHE would have loved doing--- a café? A museum? Even just a favourite song on your CD player, sipping a favourite drink (tea? wine?) She will be with you. Still, for now, give yourself time to weep.. that is so important, too. Hugs to you, sweetie!!!

So true, Carolyn....and I believe he's showed us how the world will condemn us and how if we die to ourselves...try to love others as we love ourselves.... then like he conquered the cross, so we will also! Great poem and this is also like a prayer...yours is the second one I've read today, Carolyn! Thank you for sharing this. It serves as a reminder of his amazing love! Much love, Annalise

Hi David, Yes, I am writing about Jesus, taking the perspective of one who watches Him die on the cross, realizing that the Son of God's Earthly life has come to an end. Thank you for your kind comments. Love, Carolyn
