What Really Lies In the Tides

My heart belongs to the ocean even though I've never seen it. I can breathe and meditate to the sounds of your crashing waves. Your sweet kisses you send to the sand. My heart belongs to the unconditional love the ocean preaches to it's inhabitants. My heart belongs to the brook. Let it babble its sweet, sweet nothings into my ear. The constant inconsistencies of its waters are so exciting and new against my palms. My heart belongs to the creek running behind my grandfather's cabin. I apologize for my lacking familiarity with your new currents. I just can't let go of what I once remembered. What I remember of my parents love I mean. You see I wear my parents promise ring like its a tea cup. To me it's beautiful, fragile but strong, and filled with grace when in reality its faded, chipped, and can't hold much of anything anymore. My heart belongs to the tides because tides can wash away everything and I've been relying on it to do that for me for years. So to any boy who loves me you have to promise me not with a ring, but with a stream leading from your river to my pond.
