What Love Means

My Father asked me about you today...
I told him that you are a brilliant woman
extremely beautiful, compassionate and creative,
how could I want anything less,
he shook his head in agreement saying...of course...
I said that I will love you until the day I die,
and that if the Afterlife
is anything like the way we conceive it to be
that I'm sure I'll see you, and love you there too,
he sighed as if passionate love was just a memory and said...
I forgot what that's like...
What do you mean I asked...with you as my only genuine knowledge of love,
and he replied...
To be in love so absolutely...
and we both remained quiet for a few slow moments,
he, looking sadly into a distant and dying need
and I, staring proudly into the certainty of our love's immortality -

I love the conversational, sweet and simple feel of this poem Justin, though it leaves one with a deep warmth and depth of heart. This moment between you and your father is precious in that you have much to teach him and remind him of regarding love and its splendor. His gaze breaks my heart just as yours makes me proud and hopeful. Always, Laura

Yes Laura, its as though aging and vibrant, youthful hearts are passing eachother by on the love's highway, one is headed for a museum of memories, the other with a destination to the living lips of passion that will never know death. Gosh Laura, you compassion and fervor for love really shine bright in your reaction to this write...J.A.B.

Simply one of the sweetest in all its poignant sincerity, Justin. Need I say you are one of the not so many blessed with such love? More so for recognizing and having the talent and courage to immortalize it in a poem. A 7 and fav. Kim

My courage and assuredness in this love's immortality exist because the woman of whom I speak of is the only reason why I believe in love. She makes me believe that we are the reason why Love is alive in this world Kim...J.A.B.

My dear Justin I'm sure that she's so proud to have u by her side as I'm sure that she melted as soon as she read ur mesmerizing , soul touching poem ...u do capture souls , love is a great bless and I feel bad for those who can't feel it or see it , ur devotion is so obvious from the way u talk about her I can tell u that I never felt a great love story like this since Shakespeare , when I read ur poems I can feel the same passion and the same burning fire that it's coming from ur deep soul ...

Love is a conqueror Dalia, and has captured she and I with bindings of fire around our very hearts...my passion for her has never been expressed so clearly and completely as in this poem. The way you Honor, and hotly embrace the poetry of my heart induces ecstasy...J.A.B.
