In just three months time I've lost three very close life-long friends. All I can do is sit there wondering to myself. What just happened....what just happened.

What just happened This dream I'm in ~ how can it be First one ~ than two ~ now three What just happened My friends ~ I've known for years Leaving memories ~ leaving tears What just happened Gone ~ in just three months past All three friends ~ gone so fast What just happened Like...Three ~ two ~ one Just like that ~ all three are gone What just happened What just happened What just happened

Gee Charlie, this is so sad. I hope it's not true but if so...what can you do? Be happy for the memories. Not everyone has them you know. Perfect poem...it sure got me.

Your repeated question 'what just happened', as your try to come to terms with the great loss of three life-long friends within a short time, poignantly underscores the grief and shock you feel as life's twists and turns come fast and furious, so overwhelming my dear friend Charlie. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Warmest wishes always.. ~Susan

Charles, it is kind of sad and eerie that every time someone close to you dies, a fragment of your existence dies with you as you age. I'm the youngest of my family and all have died except my sister who is 87 years old. And I always ask,"what happened ". A poignant but great poem.

There is nothing like the loss of a friend unless it is the loss of three in a row. So sad! My grandfather's suit had 17 funeral cards in the pocket when we found it to bury with him. So very sad. It is amazing how fast things go downhill, and how thunderstruck we are by it. Enjoyed your poem, Charles.

Thank you, Caren. Yes, in a blink of an eye things can do a complete U-turn. That it quite a collection of funeral cards, I hope your grandfather lived a wonderful long life. Death is sad, thank god for memories. Thank you again for your kind words...hugs charlie

So sorry for your great loss. My coworker had the same thing happen. As she was talking about the loss of two relatives, she reads a text that she’s lost a dear friend. Life can be cruel at times.

Yes, I am finding that out as I age, it seem like I've been fed a steady diet of funerals lately. Yes, one day we too shall depart and leave behind fond memories. Thank you very much Tom. Charlie
