What Is It About Them
Is it their eyes,
So full of innocence and laughter,
Is that what brings your anger forth?
Is it their aching need for affection,
That inspires you to hurt?
Is it the love in their hearts,
That makes you hate them so?
Is it the beauty of childhood,
That infuriates you?
What is it about their sweet smiles,
Adorable dimples,
And tender touch,
That makes you want to inflict pain?
What is it about their laughter,
Which makes most laugh along with them,
That makes you scream with rage?
Why do you neglect them,
When the need you the most?
What is it about them,
That makes you despise and loath them,
When all they've done,
Was love you,
And trust you to keep them safe?
