What If I Stopped
What if I Stopped?
Writing this poetry?
It would not matter,nonetheless!
Or would it?
What if I block all comments,
That might be good!
I measure my writing like a fool,
By the amount or lack of comments.
I don't think any poet should write for glory!
As though this were the Poetry Olympics.
What a pitiful, tragic tale.
There are poems of rare beauty here
And some are restaurant menus.-))
Nothing more, with comments galore?
I feel like selling out, meaning for mediocrity.
Just throw any words on a paper.
Just to be at the top?
I tried that, it doesn't work.
Just tracks of me, like footprints in the
snow.
Best to be fully me, even if the poem
is barren of comments.
That demands of me, rigorous, honest
poetry.
