What If

What if we all accept this is it, all of it, no more, no less. This is what you get. For better or worse. No heavenly paradise full of virgins waiting to be taken. No hellfire no purgatory Do you suppose there’d be any difference in living? Would suicide bombers recognize waste? Could love survive? Nature would continue as usual I would love my wife and family no less My lot in life has improved No I am not content Neither do I take or need charity Independence and freedom are responsibilities I own as an American Citizen Life is meaningless without them First came rebellious independence Tempered with responsibility Freedom came last as I embraced solitude And after all that effort A hawk looked at me and flew away Superior in his wild survival It's all too good to be true
