What I See
I could put you on a pedestal
lay pretty flowers at your feet
bring you all of my attention
your adoration I could preach
But my love for you is not fleeting
and to others I don't wish to show
I hold you in my every heartbeat
and into each gentle kiss I bestow
I whisper that you are beautiful
and I wear your loving smile
I place my arms around you
because you compliment my style
I won't flaunt your graces
I won't fawn your stunning looks
but every inch of love I have
is living, in those glances that I took
Last night while you were sleeping
I lie awake in the stillness and stared
I touched your skin and caressed you
easing all my inner chaos and my fear
I could climb a thousand mountains
tell all the world this love is great
but I'd rather just hold your hand
and leave all the rest but up to fate
