Notes About The Poem

Heard the punch line on WGN-AM Radio 720's 'Speed Jokes,' 03/15/2022...

What Drink For a Man of Letters

Charles Dickens walked into a bar quite pissed
Seems in his latest reviews he was dissed
  To eat, 'Side of Linguini'
  To drink, 'Double Martini'
Bartender had to ask, 'Olive or Twist'

Hmm. A new bar. Just what this drunk and stoned country needs, I guess. Just like another corner gas station... Thanks, Mike!

This is indeed clever Gershon ! Not simply clever but ingenious too ! Greatly enjoyed the 'Twist'

I'll take 'ingenious' any day of the week, Valsa. Only one tiny problem: I don't know who to apply it to! I know: I give full credit to my parents, my wife, my children, and the Lord Above. NOW, it's applied properly! Thanks, gw
