What Defines Us
It is not enough to merely exist
Taking up space amassing excess wealth
Living contented apart from the world
No foothold, no foundation
Looking out for “me and mine”
Rolling through life like a tumbleweed
Through desert wastelands
Picking up trash and debris along the way
Deluding ourselves that this junk defines us
We are not merely flesh but spirit
We have a foundation. A steadfast grounding
Like the air we can be free! No boundary truly holds us
We are formed by The Word which nourishes our soul
Look to your neighbor. He is the reason you are here
Live in the spirit, give of your time, raise him up!
Look into his eyes. What do you see? He sees what you see
An immortal soul reflected.
This is what defines you!
