Wear a Poppy

I'll wear a red paper poppy For the boys and girls I knew, Who went to war, not to return. It's little enough to do. I'll wear one for all the others Who came home but weren't the same. I'll wear one for each brave hero, Though I may never know his name. If you see the veteran's selling Bright red poppies, show your pride. Take one and wear it proudly For those who lived, for those who died. By: Joyce

We have the same tradition, Joyce, and poppies are worn on Memorial Day and Veterans' Day. Very meaningful poem that shows your compassion for our soldiers. Congratulations on your win in the contest! Love, Carolyn

Poppies are such a tender reminder of their sacrifices, Joyce. You are writing some outstanding poetry! Now I need to pick up a poppy before I go to the Civil War veterans cemetery on Memorial Day. Perhaps I could buy a few and leave some on the graves of the youngest casualties of that war. I wonder if the idea to wear poppies came from the poem "In Flanders Fields." Love, Carolyn

VERY NICE> I like this cute little poem. It is not the standard tribute poem, but fun and light! I have not seen poppies around very much anymore. I will certainly buy one if I see it! Luv, Andrea
