Waves ~

Waves
Glide in
On white wings,
Fleecy whitecaps
Flutter in rhythmic
Rhapsodies of seafoam
Swell across the naked sands
Hypnotic serpentines slow dance
Surges of rising tides bear spindrift
To sparkle like crystal frost in sunlight
Ebbing billows crescendo in withdrawal
As the shore clings to the waves caress
Tidal pulse bids the shore farewell
Leaving sandy signatures,
Lacy ripples of ebb,
Tidepools overflow
Driftwood harvest
Seaside gifts
New waves
Form

Dear Sam, your soothing rhythmic cadence of seashore imagery is calming, just like the gentle lapping of waves caressing the shore, and the tranquil rise and fall of the tide. Even the shape of your double etheree suggests a wave forming as it nears the shore. Love the musicality you superimpose, with "Rhapsodies of seafoam", "Hypnotic serpentines slow dance", and "Ebbing billows crescendo in withdrawal" being my favorite lines. Speaking of faves, this one is going to my Favs - congrats on POTW, my dear friend. Advent blessings to you ~ R&R Bro

I am so blessed by your compliments especially since you have special knowledge, and love, for the ocean! This brought back many memories of hours spent in, on and by water watching the dance of the tides and the waves - truly treasured time. Was so happy with the format of the poem. Hadn't thought it would come out looking like a wave! Always special joy to hear from you. Sending back Advent blessings. Even though Lent is a time of growth I have to admit I love Advent! Hi Kim! I am so grateful for your congratulations! Thank you! Have spent much of my life by water both salt and fresh being enchanted by the different rhythms of waves! You've caught the ebb and flow of sea waves that invite reflection in those who look upon sea inspired introspection as solace. "Ebbing billows," a natural wonder (that's "hypnotic"). Congratulations on the poem's much deserved recognition! Brian

I can hear the ocean waves, powerful, then recede quietly while the sun shines strong on my shoulders. "To sparkle like crystal frost in sunlight Ebbing billows crescendo in withdrawal As the shore clings to the waves caress" beautiful poetry. Congratulations on your POTW Sam Kauffman! :)

Have spent much of my life by or close to water, feeling the pull of the tides and watching the beach subtly change every minute. I am so happy that my love of tides and waves came through to you and that you experienced their hypnotic wonder. The Etheree form just seemed a perfect form to illustrate waves ebb and flow. some very salty and brine flavored imagery and metaphor herein...And I believe that the ebb and flow of the Etheree complimented the descriptive imagery. Well done.
