Wave Them In
Scented breezes blow from the north,
laden with the sweet smells of spring.
And crimson breasts color the skies
as a round of robins take wing.
They share an urge to fly back home
and follow spring's scent to get there.
As winter snows melt, green buds sprout,
resurrected by the warm spring air.
Acting as natural road signs,
yellow daffodils mark the way.
And nod their heads in approval,
inviting the birds back to play.
Sunshine coxes the wildflowers
to blossom the moment snows thin.
And so, when the robins return,
spring sends flowers to wave them in.
