Watching Rain and Thinking Nothing

To watch a raindrop, I don't need knowledge of surface tension... Nor do I need to know about translucent qualities I just watched one race down a window pane - did it gather up others, gifting the ultimate watery joy of pooling or did it flatten everything in it's path preventing each from reaching it's own destiny... Another took the same path, but slower There are some caught in webs - they hold their shape and flutter about feeling the freedom of movement whilst safely cradled I'm sure I'm refracted within at least one raindrop, my fate encapsulated within a tiny world and unknown to me. Within I join the branches being whipped about by the wind, free but tethered... Can the wind itself be reflected and refracted? An invisible force's shape changed well beyond anyone's ability to comprehend even it's notion. Tiny ripples of seemingly nothing bouncing around. Another raindrop seeks and kisses all it passes, I'll report that one to the raindrop police with my raindrop phone...
all energy feels attraction and repulsion rain drops

Love - love the thought process in the narrative and feel it to be could be, excellent free verse. Haiku, however, is a very complex form that dwells octaves beyond syllable counts. BTW, one of my early appreciations of these "raindrop" thoughts were from Paul Simon's Kathy's Song - yours are even better.

Thanks Craig, this one was written when I felt I didn't have a poem in me so let my mind wander to write what I was looking at. The haikus last line was weak and I meant to give it more thought but forgot about it. I like or need to grasp things on intuition - so octaves has gone over my head I'm afraid. Haha if I ever happen to be chatting to Paul, I'm definitely dropping that into the conversation :) thanks for your comment x

I have a thing with a glass sphere on it near the window too and it emphasised all the mini raindrop world's - quite captivating to watch x

You really do see the significance in insignificance Dilly, I also have pondered the windowpane raindrops, probably more when a kid, wondering which direction they might take and why; It can be quite dreamy watching them, and I think you’ve captured that dreamlike state phenomenon here, with your raindrop police and raindrop phone allusion, got to love it, cheers David

No you’re absolutely right Dilly, the mundane is indeed where a lot of the big answers lie, but most fail to notice them!

I agree, it feels like second sight sometimes to let the mind completely wander - there's more to the universe and I think the answers may be in the mundane :) or maybe I've eaten too many marshmallows today and am full of sugar haha

Even nonsense has lots of significance, when expressed through the subconscious:)
