Wasted Years

Used to be quite an introvert Never wanted the spotlight on me That was then this is now In the spotlight I love to be Quite a change for this retiring sort Who tried to divert attention Away from myself to avoid the focus Always felt an inner tension I'm a totally different individual now Unrecognizable to all my friends Gregarious seems to describe me well Don't shy from the camera lens Guess this was really who I was all along Things dictated how I appeared That certainly is all behind me now My regret, all those wasted years © Jack Ellison 2014

Hi Jack; I like the poem, but I don't think all those years were wasted. I say that the whole wrold may be wrong, but you are alright. Sorry I have not been around much, I have been really sick and in the hospital. Hugs Lucilla

Thanks for sharing this wonderful poem. I often say shyness doesn't get you anywhere, but I don't live by my words. Did you just think one day, 'what's the worst that can happen?'

I guess what I called "wasted year" were necessary to prepare me for who I am now! I'm happy in my own skin! I think the turning point came when I started being successful in my career as a graphic designer! Life is very complicated!

A most positive one for me... I feel a release, as if this is who I really was all along but circumstances didn't allow it! Thank you my dear Ilene! Love and hugs, Jack xoxox

Are you sure you're not a Dragon?... Sound like one to me... A little kid came by and wanted a picture of him... He puffed up his chest, extended his wings, and blew fire up in the air... Unfortunately, he was standing on our porch, under the roof, Overhung by my favorite tree! Well! We saved most of the porch. Wish he'd think before he leaps, so to speak.! Then he handed her an autographed concrete Dragon print... Shew! We made it before she was flatten under the weight! What was he thinking?

Don't fret about all those seemingly wasted years, I believe that those years just helped build you up so you can be who you are today my friend! I believe that you are who you are because of your past, even if you were an introvert then, you were being built up! I surely loved reading this awesome poem this morning! What a fantastic piece, quite the delightful poem, Great Work!!

I guess some would find it hard to believe I was once an introvert! I am forever in Cathie's debt for bringing me out of my shell! Little did she know though!!! LOL
