Check out my blog, THIS IS SERIOUS PLEASE READ. Someone pretending to be Bill Baker has left an obscene comment on my poem DON'T FORGET UKRAINE. I know for a fact Bill would not write something like that. If anyone else gets a similar comment contact admin straight away. UPDATE, Admin has now removed the offensive comment from the hacker

There is a troll online right now. This is 2/12/2023. Poets think it won’t happen to them! I had my name used, also but no F word. I am sure there are more than one. It’s a sick ‘game for them. Panagiota 2/11/ 2023

Admin really need to up their security. I had one before Christmas and nothing was done. All we can do is block them. Tom

No human being did that, It was a BOT. Ads are being placed in boxes by Barbara Hudson. Admin has been notified, Note..And the F word in automatically blocked. So a BOT by passed security. The character of the poets is wonderful. It was no attack on them. Some poets are openly vicious to other poets, even calling for their removal! To me, far worse than the F word. Like trying to murder a fellow Poet. Don’t like a poet? Don’t read them! )))) Pangie

The same happened to me, we communicated on soupmail, I knew it wasn't him as he is a wonderful, sensitive and awesome person and poet, but I am certain that poetry soup admin saw all these comments. Mine disappeared the next day, it's gone. What kind of a human being is this, sick. I second what you have posted my friend. Blessings, Jennifer.

Thank you, Tom, for letting others know that comment did not come from me. I've had one other comment as a reply to a friend that commented on a poem of mine. It was suggestive to a lady, I contacted her then deleted the comment. I printed a copy in case I every need it. They made the comment with their picture but signed it as me. I'll try to change my password. Again, thank you for letting others know. Bill

Thank you Heidi, yes they have started doing that again with the email notifications. I knew that there was no way Bill would write a comment like that. The culprit has been kicked off the site, it's worrying that he was able to compromise Bills account. Tom

Thank you Rico. Soon as I seen it I knew it was a hack Bill would never write that. Bill will be mortified when he finds out. Its obviously some creep with nothing better to do. Russians did cross my mind but a hack isn't going to stop me supporting Ukraine. Admin got rid of the scumbag sharpish and the comment disappeared off the poem. Tom

Thank you Harry, take more than a cowardly hacker for me to shut up. John Watt worked out the hack was from Jamaica, but that could be disguised with a vpn. Admin needs to put extra security in quickly. Tom

I believe Hackers have put Poetry Soup passwords on the web. Recently, I saw a warning on my Iphone which detects security risks. It flagged my password on Poetry Soup--I changed it but they can hack Poetry Soup again. Check if you have a warning like I had--go to Settings--then scroll down to passwords and you will see which of your passwords are at risk. As FYI-- I have iphone 13--earlier version may not have this feature. Once they get the passwords they can do what Tom has warned us about.

Thank you for the information Vijay, a few weeks ago an old limerick of mine was in entered on Unseeking Seekers contest and couldn't for the life of me think how that happened, now I know. Have changed password now but if Admin don't put in extra security then the risk remains. Tom

Interesting one Tom, I reckon your poems may have travelled a little wider beyond the soup, Its possibly a Putin sympathiser with quite a bit of computer experience hacked in, Admin needs to up their game with an extra firewall to prevent this happening again, cheers David

As an administration you leave much to be desired. Importance is given to anyone who wants to be a member and then we we get thrash. I have received insolent emails occasionally. I decided to ignore them especial since the writer is not really a poet. I am sorry Tom about your comment. You are one of the best writers on the soup and so attract jealousy scum. Pity you cannot detect who the culprit is, though that will not deter him from being insolent again.

Thank you very much Victor, I've known Bill for a while and don't think for a second it's him who wrote it. Someone has either hacked Bill or the site. First thing I thought of was it someone who supports Putin, maybe I'm being paranoid. Tom
