Wanting To Be Told
She asked her mama what to do.
Should she brush her teeth first or comb her hair?
Should she eat mashed potatoes or her peas?
When she was nineteen her mama said “I don’t care.”
So she asked her sister from that day on.
Should she put her shirt on first or her pants?
Her goal was to never think for herself.
Should she cancel the picnic? There might be ants.
Her sister led her to an overbearing dating man.
He could tell her when to bathe, and where to climb a tree.
They had a large wedding in Amsterdam.
Now they are as happy as they can be.
