Walls
We hear everything that goes on
in this room
the screaming, the yelling
even the silent tears she sheds in the darkness
we see her in her most childish state
hiding in the shelter that we provide
it makes her feel safe
when she thinks we're closing in
but it scares the hell out of her
if we get too close, she can't breath
When she turns the lights off
it gets worse
in the darkness no one can see past us
but she's afraid of the dark
we try to protect her
but she doesn't believe we can hide her
or keep the fear out
A few times she got angry
she hit us, hard
we still have bruises to show
when her anger was strongest
that's okay though, we can take it
we are here for her well-being
if she wants to hit us
if she wants to scream, it's okay
we even made sure
to create a safe corner for her to run to
she likes it there
Whenever the fear and pain subsides
she leaves
goes out into the world
but we've been through this before
she'll be back, she always comes back
she needs us
we protect her
