Walking the Mall
Outside it’s brisk, inside its warm.
There’s excitement going on everywhere.
A baby begs to get down and crawl,
So mama uses the stroller to lock her in.
The teens are checking out high couture.
The boys are absorbed with the girls, circling sure.
When I was young I was just like they,
As I walked down the street from store to store.
Times have changed and so have I.
My Oh My, did time fly!
Now I’m a little bent and shuffle more,
As I veer from side to side absorbing in all the stores.
A little slower and in the way,
I’ll get my exercise any way.
Occasionally I’d dearly love to buy,
But money’s held too tightly now.
All alone and getting on...
No one sees the invisible gray haired old lady,
As she slowly toddles down the Mall.
