Visiting Again the Valley

I meander down the verdant valley,
Facile to descend the well known smooth path,
Occasionally I halt so overwhelmed:
How exhilarating is the feel of May.
The birds whirling above the grove below.
How they love to fly in and out of trees,
While here and there new born lambs and sheep graze
The luscious grass that grow on the hill side.
I arrive at the grove, trees all around,
such a familiar place after all those years,
and as expected there in the middle
was the old and gnarled oak tree we loved so much.
On the trunk still chiselled, a heart and our names.
That's where we first met, my loving wife and I.
Now that she's in heaven, I still shed a tear.
For she will always be mine, never to part.
