Velvet vest and skirt made Very eloquent, I Visualized beauty Vision of loveliness Viewed in my mind's eye dream. Vile stain on first wearing Voila' stain gone, fabric ? I made a lavender velvet skirt and vest for my daughter. It was a beautiful outfit with a store bought blouse. The first wearing, she got something on it and when it was cleaned the fabric was limp. I had a black velvet outfit at one time and I loved it. Yes a stain would be hard to remove. A well written poem Sara. Happy Mother' Day to you and Doris. love phyl

Phyllis, Those black velvet outfits for the Christmas and New Years holiday parties are very elegant. Thanks for dropping by. I guess Doris had a good day because she made the men help her with some chores. Phyllis entertained all the kin and I was invited but was sick. I am still sick today Monday after Mother's Day. Sara, I was reading a novel set in medieval times and it was mentioned that they couldn't wash their costly velvets and silks or they would be ruined, so they Never washed them - just brushed them off and kept wearing them. Kim, We have velour today that can be washed. So many fabrics of old had to be spot cleaned and gradually, slowly they would look terrible and had to be replaced. Aren't we blessed with modern fabrics that are so washable. Thanks for dropping by and for the honor of placing in your contest. Sara

Rico, I have not owned anything valuable enough to go on the antiques road show. Mostly I have owned only what it took for us to get by or live a life just above poverty level. I imagine that when I am gone there will be a dumpster sitting in front of my house with my children(if they outlive me) loading it down with what is left so they can dispose of the house as soon as possible.
