Vanishing Act

Of all-natural things that come and go None vanish more quickly than ice and snow No more dripping at the front porch eave Winter’s snowmen quickly take their leave Since no two snowflakes are ever the same They disappear forever, and who is to blame? Spring’s shining sun rises bright and warm Honey bees embark on adventurous swarm They never experienced the winter’s snow They never wondered where does it go? Since no two snowflakes are ever the same They disappear forever, and who is to blame? SECOND PLACE WINNER PS Contest "Vanishing" Sponsored by Carolyn Devonshire

I wonder where the bees go in winter? Maybe they vacation in a tropical climate. Each snowflake is unique and cannot be replicated. Very interesting approach to the contest, Milton. Congratulations on a second place in the contest! Best wishes, Carolyn

Carolyn, according to my beekeeper friend, in the wintertime the bees hole up in their hive and live off the honey they've produced. That's why beekeepers do not take all of the honey from the hive in the fall. They must leave enough for the bees to feed on. Hope this helped!

Thanks, Josefina. Just went through a mid-February snow and ice storm. It was a mess. But, then, it warmed up and within a day or so it was all gone!
