Valentine Dilemma

I thought to bring you
a rose...but roses, short lived
dry, and fall petally away --

I thought to bring you a
manufactured heart: made of
chocolate or silk

but substitutes for you
have always been wrong
from the start

so, I showed up empty handed

and the dog and cat
tore me apart....

What the heck, love should not be so serious all the time. "My wife laughs hysterically at most everything I do...a wonder we had children" -- Not mine, I read that somewhere, and thought: laughter is healthy.

You are such a deep romantic...you have been blessed. Prerequisite for poetry~ really for a full and satisfying life. But I am no expert on anything. Writing helps me dissolve my questions. Share the mystical beauty in life I sense though not fully understanding.
