Us

The strangers came today
they said you were gone.
Gone?
Impossible.
They're wrong.
It's a mistake,
a sick joke,
a horrible dream.
You can't be gone.
It's too soon.
There's so much left unsaid,
so much left to do,
so much life left to live.
We need more time,
we need you.
So they're wrong…
completely, totally,
and irrevocably, wrong.
It's a mistake,
a sick joke,
a horrible dream.
It has to be...
right?
Yeah, of course it is.
Cuz I'm not ready.
Nowhere near ready
to let you go,
to say goodbye,
to accept the truth,
to face reality,
to admit you're gone.
So for now,
I choose to believe that
they're liars,
and lunatics,
and bastards.
For now, they're wrong.
And everything's as it should be.
You are you.
We are as we've always been…
together,
a team,
a family.
Quite simply,
we are...us.

Yep! All said with tears forming. I like your use of "push." Gives drama. Congrats on the selection. Dave

You have certainly made a declarative statement with this offering. Good descriptiveness throughout.
