Upside Down World
Backwards and jaded,
living in a life so complicated.
Forgive me for my attitude,
but I’m lost in platitude
as I see a poverty-stricken city
drowning in severe debt…
and yet-
it's the children that won’t forget.
We find money to build new sports arenas,
when public schools are broke.
Is this a joke?
Upside down and inside out,
I beg and plead when assuredness is in doubt.
I break a fever when I see children thirst,
and I know I haven’t even seen the worst.
Bottom side up,
above on the ground-
With the loss of society,
I sit and drown.
Forgive me but I see protestors fighting
for abortion-
It’s complete contortion,
these people stuck in distortion.
Where are the fighters for saving a
human life,
while an innocent angel is under
the knife?
Side to side,
I want to hide.
I must confide in one more thing-
I see veterans of war suffer in silence,
all they see is killing and violence,
and all they need is a warm blanket
and comfy bed-
somewhere to rest their heroic head.
Really? No health insurance?
All they need is reassurance,
but get pushed aside instead.
Backwards and jaded-
Why are humans hated?
upside down and inside out-
We may all look different,
but without a doubt,
from love we were created.
