Upon the Stage of Life - Fading
Is this a crisis
for the words refuse to flow
of electrolytes pulsing
and thoughts distant in shadow
I must hold my rapt audience
in this theatrical role
renaissance garb I fashion with grace
and light powder upon my nose
my arms wave in slight suggestion
and a voice
loud, winding.. ingrained
still.........my soul weary of belief
this day quite trying indeed
as words suffer to release my passion
upon this stage I bleed
could this be a final farewell adieu
for my soul longs vacant in need
a dedication once long lived in prosper
today fleeting and unable to believe
have I lost my gallant enthusiastic dream
have the wheels of time consumed
my pulse racing in angered defeat
my fading breath shallow and week
I bow
in silent crisis
as a rat desperate in need
sweat pouring down, my tunic soaked
I scurrying off life's stage
was my inadequacy revealed
by chance did they see.............?
I fall to the floor
in crumbled disease
this crisis has brought defeat
farewell...................farewell my love
farewell my loving need..........
