Upon a Virgin Shore

Upon the golden virgin shore No footprints bore signs of man as tenebrous clouds of mourning shed tears across a somber bay Veiled behind a shroud of gray was sunlight's rise at dawning October 22, 2022 Bitesize Poem No. 54 Contest Hosted by Line Gauthier **************

I feel like she is shedding tears for all of the innocent people in the world being tormented. Powerful imagery!

Visually beautiful and poetic Jenna, flows very well, I wonder if the tears are being shed by nature, knowing this will be the day, man’s footprints appear on the shoreline, or am I going off on a tangent, cheers David

Many poets, myself included, personify nature by referring to her as 'Mother.' In these lines I think you'd be correct in assuming she's weeping. However, what that reason could be remains open to interpretation by everyone. Therein lies the mystery. I'm inclined to believe your idea that she cries knowing her virgin shore will someday be marred by humans. Thank you for your insightful thoughts.
