The tulips in the vase, a clan of lassies fair. Their buds they hold the gold, the pollen of their youth and promise sunrise told, the tulips in the vase, they lounge in waisted glass with petals kidskin sleek in shades as warm as fire, oh, glamor girls trés chic. The tulips in the vase, romantic redheads bloom. Their teacup tepals filled; ideas nouveau riche with secrets sunset spilled, the tulips in the vase as Venus feeds their dreams. Demure, in damsels’ dupe, a still-life painting prop— enslaved for art they droop.

To use these as subject matter and turn it into such a wonderful imaginative story is sheer poetic talent dear Susan. In four stanzas, I would not have thought any poet could have made me feel empathy for tulips in a vase, but you did ! As in all your poetry you displayed immense poetic prowess. A joy to read. Thank you.

Dear Susan, once again I’m in awe of your talent and creativity. Your depth when you describe anything is truly astonishing. You are a true creator both of poetry and art. The way you bring these tulips to life, personify them, is amazing. The imagery is exquisite with wonderful use of alliteration. The sense of their beauty, youth and their need for freedom whilst being confined in captivity and enslaved, exhibited for the use of art is breathtaking.

‘Still - life’ painting prop and yet there is much life in them and the indignation of being admired through captivity leaves them no desire to ‘perform’ and their once free spirits of beauty diminish and droop.Truly amazing - what an inspiration you are to me my dear poetic heroine. Thank you for sharing your immense gift that brings so much joy. Hugs and admiration to you xx

Leave it to you to make something special of tulips in a vase. A classy poem Suze. I had glanced at it a while ago and thought I remembered a photo go-with with some droopy tulips. In any case, awesome poetic still-life

Hi dear Susan! It is always a pleasure to partake of your poetic offerings and relish every word. A Monchielle could be challenging, and yet you tackle it with apparent ease. The subject matter ~ tulips in a vase ~ reminds me of an exhibit in an art gallery; the more I look at it, the more the technical details catch the eye. Well done, my friend. ~ Warm regards and hugs // paul

Dear Susan, The personification of tulips in the first 2 lines drew me in. I was not disappointed. Tulips held in a bend, yet alive as a "still life painting prop" truly elevates the flower as artistic inspiration. Wonderful words, stirring posting. Best wishes always, Brian

Dear Susan, This is a captivating portrayal of beauty and fragility. Your mastery of words delicately capture the essence of youth, promise, and the transient nature of life. The symbolism of the tulips, trapped in the vase like painted props, evokes a sense of melancholy and reflection. I loved it. - Blessings, Daniel

My dear friend, your take on the contest is a visually striking poem that explores themes of beauty, youth, captivity, and artifice. Through its evocative imagery and nuanced portrayal of the tulips, the poem invites readers to ponder the complexities of human perception and the ways in which beauty is both celebrated and constrained in society.
