Unreality Check

He’s a nightmare killer
Who’s killed many times
After reality fades
he commits many crimes

He loves that feeling of power
over the people he kills
and the colour of their blood
that he mercilessly spills

There’s no rhyme or reason
for who he attacks
The bodies just disappear
no need to cover his tracks

During his daylight hours
he’s mild mannered it seems
That other person he’s afraid of
the one that lives in his dreams

He’s anxious to fall asleep
because in slumber he won’t care
There will comfort in their pain
a pleasurable nightmare

In the morning when he rises
he fears he will be caught
But a man can’t be found guilty
for the things he has thought.

Really gripping write. Got me engrossed. First half mind of a killer perfectly captured, as I read further I smiled. Many of us think but don't act beyond that. Glad it wasn't real.

Didn't expect that ending! Oh... glad it wasn't reality for him. I was living the fear though... good job!

Great write my friend. but people like that, tend to have little conscience. we all think different. and some are wired up wrong., It's hard for people to get their head around, because, we have our own rules and morals, and ethics. We often choose our path. well penned. Take care.

Hmmm... interesting poem, how many have sadistic thoughts but do not act upon them, never mind the murderers, its the pedophiles, who have not acted upon their urges, that worries me the most..

It’s the quiet ones that you sometimes have to watch out for. :0)

Thanks Tom. No idea how this popped in my head. Just taking the pen where it chooses to go.

Hi Richard, yes it's lucky we can't be prosecuted for our thoughts, then we would probably all be in jail~

That is true. Some people like scary and dark movies. It’s a form of escapism. It doesn’t mean they are predisposed to violent behaviour. Myself I prefer comedy/Drama.
