Unnoticed

Flowers sometimes grow in cracks Or vacant lots or railroad tracks Or mountain paths where no one hikes Or hidden where no sunlight strikes. So, too, a poem, its words composed And set upon the world, exposed To passers-by who might peruse And even comment, if they choose… Or walk away without a glance, Without the time to take a chance On opening their busy eyes To what could be a real surprise. For poets’s phrase or flower’s bloom Might shine a light into the gloom.

When I go strolling in the woods I look for those little things not easily noticeable, and I always find some small but beautiful growth in the underbrush. I like the second very much in this poem. M

What a wonderful comparison of poetry to flowers Ilene, your poems are 'blooming excellent' and I hope your words continue to blossom. I agree sadly some poems never see the light of day and get passed over with no comments :-( hugs jan xx
