Unintended Consequences

Are consequences of intention ever what we dream they are? The good I’d do the ‘just’ result of conscience bending? Gravity Of dust from stars imploding seems to haunt these mortal coils of mine Though life is grand at times and sweet (an unintended valentine The human mind spins?) Strange! Gyrating atoms dance ‘our’ fantasy, (Their logic fronts an overview), some nut might keep the wheel on ‘car?’ To dream (I dream of God at all) is dream surpassing all I dream And must fall short! Infinity’s beyond my reach, ‘Colbert Report’ That makes God laugh (I hope that’s true), ‘God knows’ is ‘best’ that I can do! Eternal children make God proud? This imagery, a Bible’s stew Of metaphors, calls Justice ‘Grace,’ says ‘pain’ means ‘gain,’ is last resort Of groping minds denying death? Are all man’s actions off the beam? Are consequences of man’s actions ever earned or just appear, A gift from God or just deserts? Is Love I win a love I win? Do all bananas grow on trees, a long-life symptom of ‘disease?’ Is logic started going somewhere, or does scratching make you sneeze? Do victories seem disappointing, losing prove you’re without sin? Though consequences fail to please you, be assured I love you, dear! Brian Johnston 8th of September in 2019
