Undeveloped

on the edge of this day a monotone sky rises dull undeveloped like all these rolls of film tucked away in the drawer sometimes i want to peer beneath the corners see the negatives exposed remembering each frame of moments captured so long ago develop these memories flash back through the years they hold contained yet sometimes i 'm afraid of the storms and the rain they may bring like these clouds enveloping the horizon this monotone day

If a picture's worth a thousand words, think of all poetic possibilities held within that drawer, my friend... hugs :)

Damned if you do damned if you dont, I think curiosity would get the better of me though. Not sure how long they'd last but I think they deteriorate over time. Tom.

thank you Tom, i agree, either way could be a win or lose situation...i am sure whatever was on them is probably deteriorated by now but who knows... maybe one day... i came close a few times but then always said oh well, another day perhaps...hugs :)

How the horizons inspire us... Many an analogy and metaphor have been written in relation to it..

Interesting analogy there, my friend... Some things truly are better left undeveloped... :) gw

Thank you my friend...i agree...so undeveloped they have remained through the years...every now and again i will come across them, hold them, think about developing them and then put them back... :) hugs

LOL Sandra I have a ton of undeveloped negatives, interesting how you worked that into your excellent poem my friend! they do have a printer they sell that can develop negatives my nephew had one but for some reason mine didn't work in that printer maybe pictures taken when I was a boy shows how undeveloped we were, we wouldn't want to expose that. lol

Memories can be melancholic..especially if evoked on a monotone day, as you say..a lovely write as always, my friend.

Thank you Vijay, it's just one of those gray days on the horizons... the winds are really picking up and it's supposed to get really bad later...with some of the trees baring, the sky so dismal, it just looks colorless and bare outside ... :) hugs

a sad but wonderfully creative theme for a poem. In your amazing poetic style you have taken us with you as you look back on items from the past that hold memories but might be better just being left where they are. This was fantastic Sandy, which seems to be always what I find when I visit your page.

thank you Chris... they have been sitting in a drawer this long, why not let them sit longer...maybe one day curiosity might win the battle, but for now i'd rather not know what they hold, but i am glad to know you enjoyed my poem my friend ... :) hugs

Sandra, I like the photographer's eye and voice lacking intonation. -Richard

thank you Richard....the rise of day was kind of somber, rains are coming later, but it made me think of the rolls of film i still have in a drawer...how old must they be? with all these digital cameras around for a couple decades now... i have no idea if they would even be able to be developed, but part of me wants to know what's on them and part of me is afraid of what i might find since so many close to me are gone... hugs :)
