Under Bridges and Out of Mind
He was so very lonely in the cold,
resigned to live a life that we have never known,
below the city lights where eyes don't wish to see,
in a world that is ... but it should never be.
He had so, so many dreams when he was young,
but fate would reach and crush and break them one by one,
'til hope had turned to tears until he cried no more;
pieces of his world lie scattered on the floor.
How could I pass him by with barely just a glance,
not even wishing life would gift a second chance,
but I was very late for dinner on that day -
besides, I had to go, I had to get away ...
