Uncle Edmund

Eddie for short Leaving you on my island home Down in the tropics where it always shine I left you to climb the heights alone Time flew while I was gone Yet many things have stayed the same Stirring up memories like a bowl of granny’s pigeon soup You always treated me like your kin You picked up the pieces My father left behind He walked away and never turned back He never turned back He never turned back You filled the back hole With kindness, and compassion Jesus did for Bartimaeus You wiped the tears that rolled down my cheeks You soothe the swelling in the pit of my stomach Offering me Castrol oil and ginger tea You tapped, tapped into my crusted soul Like a poet flowing with inspiring words At times when I thought I heard my papa’s voice I looked up, saw your reassuring face The expression I saw in your cinnamon nutmeg eyes You kind words and infectious smile Said to me: That’s my girl You reproached me when I disobeyed the rules my mama set I hung my head in shame, for I wanted you to be proud of me I am so sorry I didn’t have the chance to see you again To tell you how much I loved you so, and still do Many, many things left unsaid, so many, many unanswered questions I will see you again dear Uncle Eddie.

Janet, Welcome to Poetry soup, I hope you enjoy the community. Here, you will find friendly poets who enjoy supporting one another. I myself, enjoy reading and commenting those who want to be read. The only time I give constructive criticism is when a poet desires it. However, if for some reason the poem is not my field I will guide you to someone who is more qualified than I. Stop by and read one of my poems if you like. My poems are not perfect, but I have a feeling you might like one. I encourage you to check out the contest page and read to receive comments. Tell me a little about your poetic skills if you like. It will be my pleasure to follow and read every poem you post from here on :) We are Lucky To Have you. Your New Poet Friend @-> LINDA <-@
