Truth Be Told

"THE whole truth and nothing but the truth"

Precious and so innocent the heart of a young child.
The heart produces feelings of warmth and love so
hard to explain.
As one reaches their teenage years these feelings
become more noticeable to them.
The mind says one thing and the heart says another.

We are left wondering which feeling to follow those
of the heart or those of the mind.
I chose to follow my mind and not my heart and I
wonder to this day...
What would have been had I not been scared and
followed my heart instead of my mind.
Truth be told maybe I am better off not knowing.

In Jeremiah 17:9 says: "THE HEART IS DECEITFUL ABOVE ALL THINGS AND DESPERATELY WICKED. WHO CAN KNOW IT." In other words: God knows the hopeless corruption of the natural heart and so He said to Nicodemus that no one, no matter how cultured or moral, can either see or enter into the Kingdom of God unless there is a new birth. We can learn from this that if we listen to our heart instead of our mind we will often regret it. Great write Carol. God Bless, JB

Like this a lot. I have always advised my children follower your mind and do what you know to be right, for the heart can lead you astray. This coincideds with the Saviors counsel that we must become masters of our own emotions. Hey, I'm hosting my first contest come and join.

Though we keep hearing people say 'follow your heart' but I think it's brave and sensible to follow your mind. That must need a lot of discipline.. This is an excellent write Carol, simply loved it. huggs...

Good write. A lot of people say - follow your heart. Life is full of choices and we have to make the right ones. Have a nice day. Lucilla

Carol, I really like the way you describe how our attitudes and actions change as we get older. When I follow my mind, I am usually sorry I didn't follow my heart. Very compelling entry for PD's contest, and I wish you success! Love, Carolyn
